January 2011
Hi everyone, welcome back. Hope everyone had a wonderful Holiday and New Year! As you can imagine, I am in the thick of my training, but fortunately I was able to get back home to Connecticut for the holidays. It was really a wonderful trip back, getting to spend time with my family and see my pug, Mocha. We also got just what the doctor ordered, a snowy Christmas Day. We had the fireplace going and just laid low while we got blasted with 16 inches of snow. This time I saved the snow angels. Didn't want to take the chance of getting sick for the BIG DAY.
As for skating, it has been great. Getting very excited for Nationals, especially because I choreographed my own programs this year and everything down to the acting is my own spin on a new look for my skating this season. To compliment my choreography, I have been working hard to gain consistency and am looking forward to showcasing my improvements. It will be a great Nationals also because I will have so many friends and family in attendance this year…for some reason, everyone is choosing this Nationals to attend. No complaints here!
Lastly, I have also been doing some coaching and choreography in my spare time, which has been a true gift getting to pass along my knowledge to other skaters. One of my goals for the future is to be able to positively affect as many skaters in this sport that I can. This is just a small stepping stone towards that.
So be sure to stay tuned beginning Friday Jan 28th on NBC…you are not going to want to miss the Men's Event! And, if you haven't had a chance, please check out my promo video on YouTube describing my short program this season and the story behind it.
One last note—I have taken to writing poetry of late. If you love skating, you really should check out my latest poem, entitled “The Moment.” Just go to my blog to read it! Thanks so much everyone and will write back after the BIG weekend. Take care!
