February 2009
Welcome back to those of you who have visited my site and welcome to those of you who are new as well! It has been a while since I have last written, so I will fill you in on everything that is new with me!
Most recently, I just finished up the National Championships in Cleveland where I placed 8th. For those of you who were there or saw it on television, you would know that my short program was truly a magical experience for me. It was one of those nights I will never forget as I skated the performance of my life in front of my home crowd. I was just so ecstatic I could hardly contain myself by the end of the performance and I am truly glad that I was able to show people my best and my love for this sport. And, going into the long I felt like I was ready and truly excited to give another great performance.
But, during the warm-up for the long, I rolled my ankle, which completely through off my rhythm. Something like that is always a challenge and I never expected to have a freak thing like that happen on the warm-up. I don't like making excuses, so I will not drag on about this. Needless to say, the long didn't go as well as I hoped, but I continued to battle until the end of the program. And that long program can't take away from the fact that I skated great the rest of the season and made huge improvements overall this season. And that is encouragement enough for me to continue my pursuit of being the best I can be at this sport and to continue doing something I love.
So, now I am just relaxing and having some free time to do some other fun things such as my art and putting together the 2nd annual Skate for Life benefit for Muscular Dystrophy. And, I had a great time watching the Super Bowl. A great game and a few great commercials too! My favorite was the Doritos commercial with the guy throwing the snow globe/crystal ball at the vending machine getting free Doritos for everyone....very funny.
Well, that is about all that is new with me, but be sure to check back soon for some more updates!!! And, thanks for visiting my site!!!
