Skate Dance Dream show heads to Baldwinsville, N.Y.

Parker Pennington, a U.S. National Champion at 4 different levels, will be bringing some of his talented friends to Baldwinsville, New York for a figure skating and dance show spectacular. Parker will be showcasing his growing National Tour, Skate Dance Dream presented by Courtyard Marriott on Oct. 1 at The Greater Baldwinsville Ice Arena in Baldwinsville, N.Y.

Rachael Flatt announces three new coaches

Rachael Flatt announced that she will begin training with Justin Dillon, Lynn Smith and Sergei Ponomarenko at three ice rinks in the Palo Alto, Calif., area as she begins coursework at Stanford University in late September.

Ashley Wagner to train with John Nicks, Phillip Mills

Ashley Wagner announced that she will begin training with John Nicks and Phillip Mills at the Aliso Viejo Ice Palace in Aliso Viejo, Calif. Wagner spent the last three years being coached by Priscilla Hill at the Skating Club of Wilmington in Wilmington, Del.

Agnes Zawadzki leaves Tom Zakrajsek

Agnes Zawadzki, the 2010 U.S. junior champion, announced today she will resume training with David Santee after spending three seasons under coach Tom Zakrajsek. Santee coached Zawadzki for seven years in her native Chicago and helped her to the 2007 U.S. intermediate silver medal.

Omaha, Neb., to host 2013 U.S. Championships

U.S. Figure Skating announced April 28 the selection of Omaha, Neb., as the host city for the 2013 U.S. Figure Skating Championships, Jan. 19-27, 2013. Competition and practice will be held at the Qwest Center Omaha Convention Center and Arena.

Johnny Weir stars in ‘Ice Dreams’ on April 30

“Ice Dreams Starring Johnny Weir” is returning to The Edge Ice Arena in Bensenville, Illinois, on April 30. This year’s show will feature 100 young local skaters in a group number. The “Future Stars” were chosen to participate in the show through live and web auditions.

Alexe Gilles leaves Zakrajsek for Sato, Dungjen

Alexe Gilles, the 2008 U.S. junior champion, announced that she has ended her 10-year professional relationship with coach Tom Zakrajsek and will train with Yuka Sato and Jason Dungjen in Bloomfield Hills, Mich.

Rachael Flatt signs with Octagon for full representation

Global sports and entertainment marketing leader Octagon announced the signing of Olympic figure skater Rachael Flatt to a full representation agreement. Flatt, who was a member of the U.S. Olympic team at the 2010 Winter Games in Vancouver, is the reigning U.S. National Champion. She will be competing in the 2011 U.S. Figure Skating Championships that will take place through Jan. 30 in Greensboro, N.C.

Evan Lysacek named SportsMan of the Year

U.S. Olympic Committee honors Evan Lysacek, the 2010 Olympic Champion, with prestigious SportsMan of the Year award. In 2010, he finished second at the U.S. Championships but went on to win the Olympic gold medal.

Flatt, Weir headline 2011 Skate for Hope benefit

Skate for Hope, the Columbus, Ohio-based premier figure skating event that benefits breast cancer research and awareness, announced the cast of the show’s eighth-anniversary production, scheduled for 5 p.m., Saturday, June 18, 2011, at Nationwide Arena. Among the skaters are Joshua Farris, Rachael Flatt, Johnny Weir and Caitlin Yankowskas and John Coughlin.
