Hello Everyone,
I'm sorry it has been so long since I have updated. I hope you are all having a wonderful summer. My life has taken so many new turns since I last wrote. I'm continuing to teach skating. I am now teaching at the Onyx-Suburban Skating Academy in Rochester Hills. I feel fortunate to go to work everyday doing something I love.
A few months ago I went through the training to do the data/video for the IJS system and got my sectional appointment. I have enjoyed working that at a few competitions this season. I really like the new system, and think it’s a good thing for our sports future.
Over winter break my family and I went to Breckenridge and Vail, Colorado to go skiing. The mountains were beautiful and we had an amazing time. I also attended Governing Council in Reno, where our committee hosted the Athletes Alumni Dinner. It was such a wonderful event and I look forward to doing it again next year.
In May, my Mom and I went to the PSA conference in Los Angeles, California. I really enjoyed that and learned many things. I also got to visit some of my close friends that live in the area. Soon after we started summer ice and I haven't had much time to do anything else since then!
I am on summer vacation from school, but am looking forward to going back in September. I have a year and a half left. Once I graduate, I still plan on coaching skating. I have skated a bit this summer. I am planning on competing at the Collegiate Championships in August. Two of my students are competing and I decided it would be fun to go with them. I don’t have a lot of time to skate since I am teaching about nine hours a day, but hopefully my back will hold up and I can go compete one last time. I have heard Collegiate’s is a fun event, so I’m really looking forward to it.
I think that is about all that is going on in my life right now! It has been fun watching the new generation of skaters emerge and I think the US has some really talented skaters that will be fun to watch in the next few years. Have a wonderful summer and I will write again soon.
Love Always,
Lindsey
