Hi Everyone!

My life has been so busy I forgot that I didn't update after Collegiate's. Let me catch up...

At the end of the summer, two of my students and I traveled to Miami, Ohio to compete at the Collegiate National Championships. I had always heard what a fun competition it was and I was excited to go and see some friend I hadn't seen in awhile.

I was extremely nervous since I hadn't competed in so long and really wasn't able to train much. The rink there was gorgeous. We all felt like we were skating at Nationals again! The girls were very good and I was just hoping to make it to the final round. I ended up skating really well and was 2nd in qualifying!

Short program was the next day and I skated the best I could have hoped for. I was 2nd after that program. Going into the final long I really wanted to stay in the top 5. Obviously my expectations were low here because I haven't skated in three years. I was very grateful just to be out there performing again.

My final long was perfect and I performed it the way I always wanted to end my skating career. I didn't do the triples I used to be able to, but I had fun and enjoyed every second of the program. To me that was an accomplishment.

Every skater wants to end their career on a good note and Collegiate's allowed me to do that. I always had felt that after I got hurt there was a chapter that never closed, and now I feel like I can move on and be happy with everything skating brought into my life. What a fun weekend!

After Collegiate's I took a trip to California to visit Naomi. She had just had hip surgery the weekend prior so I went out there for a few days to help her get around after it. We had a nice time just laying around and relaxing. It was so nice to have a few days off before the fall schedule started.

Now I am back to my crazy schedule! Fall semester is half-way over already! Mid-terms were last week and I survived. I'm busy teaching and my kids are all doing really well. I love every aspect of teaching and I hope my students will love this sport as much as I do.

Midwestern's are at my home rink next week, I'm looking forward to helping out and watching all the new up and comers.

After that I will be busy planning the Alumni dinner for Governing Council, so if any of you are planning on going to Denver in May for it make sure you come! I think that is about it for now, I will write again soon.

Happy Holidays!

Lindsey

Hello Everyone,

I'm sorry it has been so long since I have updated. I hope you are all having a wonderful summer. My life has taken so many new turns since I last wrote. I'm continuing to teach skating. I am now teaching at the Onyx-Suburban Skating Academy in Rochester Hills. I feel fortunate to go to work everyday doing something I love.

A few months ago I went through the training to do the data/video for the IJS system and got my sectional appointment. I have enjoyed working that at a few competitions this season. I really like the new system, and think it’s a good thing for our sports future.

Over winter break, my family and I went to Breckenridge and Vail, Colorado to go skiing. The mountains were beautiful and we had an amazing time. I also attended Governing Council in Reno, where our committee hosted the Athletes Alumni Dinner. It was such a wonderful event and I look forward to doing it again next year.

In May, my Mom and I went to the PSA conference in Los Angeles, California. I really enjoyed that and learned many things. I also got to visit some of my close friends that live in the area. Soon after we started summer ice and I haven't had much time to do anything else since then!

I am on summer vacation from school, but am looking forward to going back in September. I have a year and a half left. Once I graduate, I still plan on coaching skating. I have skated a bit this summer. I am planning on competing at the Collegiate Championships in August. Two of my students are competing and I decided it would be fun to go with them. I don’t have a lot of time to skate since I am teaching about nine hours a day, but hopefully my back will hold up and I can go compete one last time. I have heard Collegiate’s is a fun event, so I’m really looking forward to it.

I think that is about all that is going on in my life right now! It has been fun watching the new generation of skaters emerge and I think the US has some really talented skaters that will be fun to watch in the next few years. Have a wonderful summer and I will write again soon.

Love Always,

Lindsey
