Philly Mag: Apparently Olympic skater—and Wynnewood, Pennsylvania native—Johnny Weir was doing more than moderating for NBC (and Instagramming his outlandish outfits) at this year’s Sochi Winter Olympics. Amid all the flack he took for being there in the first place, Weir was covertly working with a film crew to document what it was like being gay at the games.

Director Noam Gonick shot footage of To Russia With Love without consent from Russian authorities, because, obviously, he could have gotten arrested for “creating gay propaganda.” The finished product “examines human rights through the lens of LGBT athletes” following the controversy surrounding Russia’s horrible anti-gay laws prior to the games.
