Hobo Nikkan Itoi Shinbun (Hobonichi): Every skater aspires to express his or her own skating, but you’ve far surpassed everyone, I think.
Johnny: Oftentimes in sports, you don’t have a chance to get to know the person. You don’t get a chance to hear them talk, to hear what their dreams are. You watch a figure skater for six minutes, or a football player for two hours, and you never really know them. It’s important for me that people get to know who I am. I want them to be able to watch my performance and understand where it comes from. Why I perform the way I do. A lot of athletes are more interested in winning the game than expressing personality. But I want people to have an interest in what goes into those six minutes when you see me in the Olympics.
