So it has been quite a long time since I wrote a journal entry…  a lot has changed in the past year.  It really is amazing how quickly time flies by.  Currently, I am going into my final year of college and enjoying every moment of it.  I also returned to the ice and competed at the Eastern Sectionals.  There I truly had the time of my life competing.  This might be the first time I can say that in all honesty.  I remember two years ago finishing in fifth, being devastated and torn to pieces inside.  This time around being fifth left me in tears and utter happiness.  Just to be able to skate again doing what I love and doing it well was good enough.  This feeling, this passion for the sport is one I relearned during my time off the ice healing from my knee surgery.  Never did I think I was going to skate again.

Eastern’s was truly a once in a lifetime experience for me.  It was one of high energy and great stress (but I loved every moment of it).  I arrived at the rink and was handed two credentials, a coaches and skaters credential.  This was because I am also coaching Jessica Houston.  Ironically we both finished fifth in senior, but it was so much fun.  Hectically I ran back and forth between the two rinks and was in a constant frantic tumble and rumble!  It was fun nevertheless!

More recently I competed at the Liberty Summer Competition in Aston, PA.  This was my first event of the season debuting my short, and “remastered” long programs.  I had a decent skate but also had another hectic competition week.  Playing coach and skater was very intense, but I made it work (the wisdom of Tim Gunn).

On the home front in terms of the training life, it has been very difficult but rewarding.  Full time now I have been working with Suna Murray, and she has been amazing for me both mentally as a skater and as a person.  Truly, she has directed me in a much stronger path, and I feel a greater amount of confidence in myself and my skating.  I am hoping to show that this season, as I try to make it back to the U.S. Nationals.  Along with Suna I have begun a partnership with Scott Brown.  He “remastered” my long program and choreographed my short.  I truly feel that he is one of the most amazing choreographers out there.  I have worked with many but he by far has been the best!  I left last season loving the sport again and said to myself that I would only continue if that love continued and transferred into my programs.  That was the goal and the task set for Mr. Brown to achieve, and with out a doubt, he went above and beyond my expectations and gave me programs that I love to skate and hope will get me back onto the National scene.  So thank you Mr. Brown!!!

Also since the last time I wrote an entry, one exciting event for me was to be accepted onto the Skating Club of Boston’s coaching staff!!!  Now I am a full time coach of the Skating Club (something I have wanted since I was little).  It has been one of the more challenging aspects within my life but the rewards are greater then the challenges!!!

Skating aside, I have begun preparing to enter the work force as a designer.  With five classes left and an internship, I have begun building my portfolio.  This has been one heck of a hard task.  To find freelance jobs and the time to do the work has been difficult.  But it has been progressing; slowly, very very slowly!!!  One of my more exciting jobs was creating the logo and art work for this past years Ice Chips!

As for my skating, I plan on doing a few more events than last season.  Hopefully, you will see my name on the roster for the U.S. Nationals, but besides that I plan to compete at Boston Open, Regionals, and Sectionals.

That’s pretty much it for now, thank you for reading up on me!
