The Figure Skaters Online chatroom gives fans the unique opportunity to engage in live conversation with world class athletes who have their official Web sites hosted at Figure Skaters Online.

Skaters that have participated in the live chats include Brad Griffies, who competed in senior men's at the U.S. Championships, and former Eastern Sectional Champion Brittney McConn.

World Championship team member Jennifer Kirk also held a live chat with fellow Boston Skating Club competitor Colette Irving, a former U.S. Champion as a novice.

Johnny Weir also participated in a live chat with fans before the Grand Prix season started in fall 2005. On a break from the Champions on Ice tour in July 2006, Evan Lysacek also held a live chat.

FSOBrittney: well, no... i just don't concentrate on all of that, i understand that they are the up and comers and all, but it is just something that i don't worry about bc i know what i can offer to the sport and the media is just always looking for a story (aka andother Tara Lipinski) anyways

FSOBrittney: well, my mom is a coach, so from the moment i could walk i was on the ice
FSOBrad: i started skating after the 92 oylmpics, i beged my mom to tkae me and she did and then i started, and i learned really fast at first, lol but then when you get to a higher level it gets much harder
llpatte: QUESTION VIA EMAIL: Brittney, when do you leave for Nationals and what are you thoughts in general on this year? (goals, hopes, etc)
FSOBrittney: i leave on tuesday, and i am really pumped. i have worled harder than ever this year...i really feel (and also so does my coach) that I am more prepared than ever!

FSOBrittney: well, i think that all i can do is my best and my best is definately competitive with all of them (that's what my coach tell me anywasy- and i also think so)

My question is for Brittney: Do you feel that with all the media attention on the younger skaters like Sarah & Naomi, do you think it's unfair to skaters like you, Amber & Angela, or do you think it actually helps by maybe giving you ladies a chance to "sneak up" and have a great 2 programs and grab a spot on the podium?
FSOBrittney: no, it doesn't bother me...i am happy that the sport is going to the next level...i don't let it get to me bc i know what i can offer to the sport and what i can do, and the media always wants a story, i can only go and do what i do everyday!

fsojenny: Well I really did enjoy the movie Ever After. However I didn't chose my music. My coach and choreographer, Mary Scotvold chose it for me. She likes to listen to a lot of CDs and she really thought that the music from that movice was great and that made us decided to go with it. I've seen the movie a lot, and really love it!

fsojenny: I have started training for next season. I am in the process of getting two new programs and I am really working hard on my stroking and spins. I am also working on new triple triple combinations. I am looking forward to getting a "new look" to my skating

fsojenny: It took be a couple of months. The axel wasn't that hard of a jump for me to get. I actually landed my first one! But the salchow was harder for me to get consistant. It's funny because now salchows are my best jump!
FSOnline: llana asks: Jenny, I've been a supporter of you since I saw you skate at Simsbury, Easterns in '98. You were a Novice then and I could see that you were headed for success.
FSOnline: What impresses me is how you just do these perfect programs when it counts. What do you do to prepare yourself mentally for competition?
fsojenny: O thank you Ilana! Well before every competition I tell myself that I control what I do on the ice. It is silly for me to miss stuff when I know that I do it all the time in practice. It seems that when I tell myself this I am able to become more confident and skate well when it counts.
FSOnline: Mike asks: Jenny, when is your next competition? Will it be televised?
fsojenny: My next competition will probably be in the fall of next year. I don't know what it will be yet or whether or not it will be televised.
FSOnline: AudioPlanet asks: How did it feel to win against Sasha Cohen, who placed higher than you at Nationals?
fsojenny: Well I don't really think about winning over someone. I just think about winning in general and that felt really great :) In every competition you can't think about beating one person. All you can concentrate on is skating well for yourself and I thought about that and that is what I am happy with.

fsojenny: I wear SPTeri custom boots and Pattern99 blades.
FSOnline: Sha asks: Any advice for landing triples?
fsojenny: Well the advice that I would give for any jump is that you really need to commit to it. If you go in without the mindset of knowing that you may fall hard you will never land any jump. I always think about bending my knees before every jump and that seems to help me. All in all just a lot of practice and hard work makes landing any jump a reality.

fsojenny: Oh the feeling was so great! I felt so happy and I really felt relieved that all the hard work I had put in training for the competition had payed off. It was one of the best feelings in my life!

fsojenny: Well worlds next year are a long way away. Right now I am not thinking about that. I am thinking about getting my new programs and new jumps. Hopefully I will make it but a lot can happen from now until then.
FSOnline: Hadas asks: Jenny, in what way has skating affected your friendship with Colette, for the postitive?
fsojenny: I think skating has really made us become closer friends. We help each other on and off the ice with issues having to do with skating. We always talk to eachother about our problems with skating and help eachother become stronger mentally.
FSOnline: Jenny, how old where you when you landed your first triple? And do you consider yourself more of an artistic skater or more of an athletic skater?
fsojenny: I landed my first triple when I was 11. I think of myself as a little bit of both. I really love to jump and I think that my jumps have sort of come before my artistic side of my skating. Right now that is what I am working on harder but I did do a lot of ballet so I am artistic as well. I just feel I need to work a little bit harder to bring it out in my programs.

fsojenny: haha no I don't have a boyfriend right now

fsojenny: Hmm..that is a hard question to know one thing I have to do. I think it is *very* important for me to continue to stay consistent! That is what I think has set me apart from other skaters. I also will need to work on my speed, stroking, and jumps as well.

fsojenny: I am 15 and I started skating when I was 5.

fsojenny: I love macoroni and cheese. I don't have a special diet though. I do eat healthy my friends say :-)

fsojenny: I wear Reidell Champions boots and Pattern99 blades.
FSOnline: Colette, how did you place at your regional and sectional competitions prior to competing at Nationals? And was this your first nationals experience?
fsojenny: I got a bye to sections due to an injury. I placed 4th at sections and this was my first nationals.
fsojenny: It was so exciting for me!
FSOnline: Devon asks: Colette, what are some of your goals for next season? and Jamie asks: What are your plans for for skating next year - in terms of levels? Do you plan on moving up?
fsojenny: I am moving up to the Junior level. My goals for next season are to go to nationals and do well (hopefully medal) as well as doing well internationally. I also plan to get all my triples.
FSOnline: Richard asks: Colette, What are your best strengths as a skater, jumps, flexibility, spins, artistry, or something else?
fsojenny: My best strength I feel is my artistry.

fsojenny: It was called the Triglav Trophy. It was my first international and I was very pleased to place second.

fsojenny: It was amazing! At first I was very overwhelmed but once the competition started I was fine. Then when I had finished competing I had a lot of fun watching the other events.

fsojenny: I haven't figured it out yet.

fsojenny: I have up through triple loop very consistent. My triple flip is inconsistent and I am working on triple lutz as well as triple toe triple toe.
