Ian started
skating at the age of 15 after watching the 1994 Olympics. He did
freestyle for 18 months but needed to switch to dance after suffering
a stress fracture in his ankle and tendonitis in both, due to varsity
soccer.
He credits his coaches, Marina Klimova, Sergei Ponomarenko and his
parents as having the biggest impact on his skating.
Ian's hobbies include scuba diving. He has a younger brother and is
interested in going to medical
school.
