Douglas finishes fifth at national championship

January 29, 2012 — Douglas Razzano finished a career best fifth at the U.S. Championships in San Jose, Calif., with 223.38 points. Since making his senior national debut with a 16th place finish in 2008, he has steadily climbed the rankings, taking 14th in 2009, 13th in 2010 and 10th last year.

In San Jose, Douglas finished eighth in the short program with 72.50 points. With a stellar free skate that included a triple Axel-double toe combination and a triple toe-triple toe, as well as all positive grades of execution, Douglas scored 150.88, ranking him fourth in the free.

 

Douglas takes seventh in Grand Prix debut

October 22, 2011 — Douglas Razzano made his Grand Prix debut at Skate America in Ontario, Calif., finishing seventh with a personal best 192.95 points. He was ninth in the short program with a personal best 60.69 and fifth in the free with 132.36, also a personal best.

While he had problems in the short program, Douglas was flawless in the free skate, receiving all positive grades of execution. He landed seven triple jumps and had two Level 4 spins.

 

Douglas added to Skate America line up

October 14, 2011 — U.S. Figure Skating today selected Douglas Razzano to compete at Skate America, the opening event of the 2011 International Skating Union (ISU) Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series, Oct. 21-23 in Ontario, Calif. He replaces Olympic Champion Evan Lysacek.

Razzano will compete alongside Americans Richard Dornbush and Armin Mahbanoozadeh in the event at Citizens Business Bank Arena. He began the season with a second-place showing at 2011 Finlandia Trophy earlier this month. He makes his Grand Prix Series debut in Ontario.

 

Douglas claims the silver medal in Finland

October 8, 2011 — Douglas Razzano won the silver medal at 2011 Finlandia Trophy in Vantaa, Finland, with 189.43 points. He was fifth in the short program but won the free skate, finishing second overall by just .12.

In his 63.00 short program, Douglas opened with an underrotated triple Axel and then fell on his underrotated quadruple toe. His free skate (126.43) included seven triple jumps.

 

Douglas cracks Top 10 at 2011 U.S. Championships

January 29, 2011 — Douglas Razzano finished 10th at the 2011 U.S. Championships in Greensboro, Austria, marking the first time that he has been in th Top 10 nationally at the senior level. He was 16th in 2008, 14th in 2009 and 13th in 2010.

With 69.61 points, Douglas finished fifth in the short program, securing him a spot in the final group for the free skate. He was 10th in the free skating, scoring 137.15 to bring his total to 206.76. Among the highlights of his performances in Greensboro was a quadruple toe loop.

 

Douglas wins silver in Austria

November 14, 2010 — Douglas Razzano finished second at the Ice Challenge in Graz, Austria, with 185.70 points. Douglas was second in both portions of the competition, scoring 68.93 in the short program and 116.77, in the free skate, to secure the silver medal.

He will compete next at thee 2011 U.S. Championships, Jan. 23-29, in Greensboro, N.C. It will be his fourth consecutive season competing as a senior man at the nationals.

 

Douglas 15th at 2010 U.S. Championships

January 17, 2010 — Douglas Razzano finished 15th at the 2010 U.S. Championships in Spokane, Wash., with 175.04 points. In 2009, he finished 14th, and placing 16th in his senior debut at 2008 nationals.

Douglas was 11th in the short program with 64.27 points. In the free skate, he placed 17th with 110.77, which included a one point deduction for a fall on the triple Salchow.

 

Douglas qualifies for 2010 U.S. Championships

November 21, 2009 — Douglas Razzano won the the Pacific Coast Sectional Championship in Jackson Hole, Wy., with 168.47 points, almost ten points over the silver medalist. He was second in the short program but improved to first in the free skate to secure the gold medal.

With the win, Douglas has qualified for the 2010 U.S. Championships, Jan. 14-24, in Spokane, Wash. He has previously competed as a senior man at nationals twice, finishing 14th last season and 16th in 2008.

 

Douglas takes eighth at the Ice Challenge

November 1, 2009 — Douglas Razzano finished eighth in his first senior international competition, the Ice Challenge in Graz, Austria. He received 181.17 total points for his sixth place short program and ninth in the free skate.

Douglas fell on his attempted quadruple toe in the short but performed a solid triple axel and a triple toe-triple toe combination. In the free program, Douglas received two mandatory deductions for falls on the triple Axel sequence and the solo triple lutz.

 

Douglas finishes 14th at the U.S. Championships

January 25, 2009 — Douglas Razzano finished 14th at the U.S. Championships in Cleveland, Ohio, with 164.14 points. He improved upon his 16th place showing in his senior national debut last season.

Douglas was 16th in the short program in Cleveland with 57.00, which included a one-point deduction for a fall. He improved to 14th in the free skate, receiving 107.14 for his effort.

 

Douglas wins the silver medal at the sectional championships

November 15, 2008 — Douglas Razzano finished second at the Pacific Coast Sectional Championships in Scottsdale, Ariz., with 183.03 points. He was fourth in the short program but won the free skate to secure the silver medal.

With his second place standing at sectionals, Douglas qualifies for the U.S. Championships in Cleveland, Ohio. He competed last year and finished 16th in the senior men's competition.

 

Douglas finishes 16th at the U.S. Championships

January 27, 2008 — Douglas Razzano finished his first U.S. Championships on the senior level with 180.21 points, which put him in 16th place overall. He placed 11th in the short program and 15th in the free skate.

Douglas fell on his opening triple Axel and landed a triple flip before falling on his second triple Axel. He then landed a triple toe-triple toe combination, triple Salchow, triple loop, triple Lutz, double Axel-double toe-double toe before falling again in his footwork.

 

Douglas makes his senior national debut

January 25, 2008 — Douglas Razzano placed 11th in the short program at the U.S. Championships in St. Paul, Minn. He finished with 64.83 points, including 35.49 for his technical score and 29.34 for program components.

He landed a triple Axel to begin the program. Douglas also landed a triple flip-double toe and a triple lutz in his short program, which marked his senior national debut.

Douglas finishes fourth at the Junior Grand Prix Final

December 8, 2007 — Douglas Razzano finished fourth in the free skate at the Junior Grand Prix Final in Gdansk, Poland , securing an overall fourth place finish in his first appearance at the Junior Grand Prix Final with 174.71 total points.

In his free skate, Douglas landed the triple Axel-triple toe combination for the first time, en route to a new personal best of 116.47 points, including 64.21 for his total element score. His seven triple jump performance also included a triple lutz-double toe and a double Axel-double toe-double toe.

 

Douglas sits in seventh at the Final

December 7, 2007 — Douglas Razzano finished seventh in the short program at the Junior Grand Prix Final in Gdansk, Poland, with 58.24 points. His short program started with a double Axel and also included a triple flip-triple toe combination and a triple loop.

None of the eight competitors in the event received any deductions. Currently, Douglas is about 10 points out of first place, five points out of second place and four points out of third place, with the men's free skate tomorrow.
