Caydee Denney started figure skating at 9-years-old after a sucessful six-year campaign as a competitive roller skater. In the roller rink, she won the juvenile girls singles national title as well as the elementary pairs division national championship and placed 3rd in the juvenile Solo Dance division but left that behind for an ice rink. In 2006, after rising through the ranks as a singles skater, Caydee teammed up with Jeremy Barrett to skate pairs. After the team competed at the Liberty Open and Indy Pairs Challenge summer competitions, Caydee moved to Colorado Springs, Colo., to train with famed singles coach Tom Zakrajsek. But when Caydee moved back to Florida in 2008, she began looking for a pairs partner, and quickly reteamed with Jeremy. Caydee and Jeremy had an impressive first season together, winning the silver medal at the 2009 U.S. Championships and placing ninth at the World Championships. Caydee continues to skate singles in addition to pairs, although her focus is on developing her partnership with Jeremy. Both of Caydee's parents were national champion roller skaters with her father placing third in senior men's singles at the 1984 World Championships. Caydee's younger sister Haven skates pairs with Daniel Raad, with whom she won the novice silver medal at the 2009 U.S. Championships. Caydee is a student at Blueridge Academy in Wesley Chapel, Fla. After graduating from high school and college, and finishing her skating career, she would like to become a dental hygienist. |
