April 25, 2007

Hi Everyone. It has been a while since I have updated my site, and last year was an exciting and challenging season for me. First, to be assigned to two Senior Grand Prix events was great. Both Paris and Nagano were places that I hoped I might get to travel to. My Mom and my sister Jenn came to Paris with me. What a beautiful place. I would go back in a minute. My sister wants to move there!! This was my first Senior International event and a great learning experience. I was thrilled to be able to skate in the final group with such great skaters such as Yu Na Kim and I also enjoyed watching Brian Joubert skate live. He is so powerful! (and cute!!!)

My next event was NHK trophy. Wow Japan, I LOVE IT, the people are beyond friendly and the fans are gracious and they really worship their skaters. It's like having the paparazzi at a skating event. I give Japanese athletes a lot of credit for being able to perform under such scrutiny. My highlight for this event was being able to meet Shen and Zhao and watch them compete. We sat center ice three row back for their free skate and they are simply amazing. I was proud of my fourth place finish in the free skate, and happy to have landed five triples since my jumps were very inconsistent last season.

Which brings me to my coaching change. Jeff DiGregorio had been my coach for nine years, but after much thought, I decided it was time to make a change. I had started working with Priscilla Hill in late September. She is an amazing technician and pushes you hard in a very positive way. After I returned from Japan, it was decided that I would make the switch to Priscilla, and begin training at the Pond. I feel that I made great progress in the six weeks before Nationals, my air position improved 100%, and even though I had a disappointing free skate I am excited to see what Priscilla and I can accomplish for next season!!!

I have had to stay off the ice for eight weeks this spring due to a back injury. I began training again two weeks ago and have been working on my new programs and slowly getting back into jumping. I am playing softball for my high school team and I am looking forward to attending Prom on May 11th. I would like to thank all of you for your cards and emails you sent to me after Nationals. I really appreciate your support.

Christine
