October 11, 2006 Hey everyone!!! It is hard to believe that October is here already and that regionals are next week!!! I know that I have not updated my journal in a while so here goes. After Junior Worlds I had the privilege of skating in Champions on Ice in Philadelphia. I had a blast. The skaters were super nice to me, and I was thrilled to be on practice ice with one of my favorite skaters, Irina Slutskaya. The Philly crowd was great and I look forward to more opportunities to skate on the tour. Unfortunately, spring time training at the University of Delaware did not go so smoothly. I, like a great number of skaters, had issues with boots. I more or less lost three months of training due to one pair of twisted boots after another. It is very frustrating and I wish we skaters did not have to deal with equipment problems. It can really hinder your progress. Summer just seemed to whiz by. My favorite part of summer is my annual week away with my family, and cousins down on the Outer banks in North Carolina. We had great weather and I recommend the Outer Banks to anyone who just wants to chill for a week. When I returned from vacation it was time to really start to get ready for my upcoming season. I have started working with Natalia Linichuk and she is really helping my artistry. She is sooo nice but at the same time strict. Her favorite thing to say to me is that "It was well, but, could be better!!!!!" haha. A few weeks ago I competed in New York City at the Middle Atlantics competition. I was very excited about skating in this competition. I earned one of my first gold medals at the No Test level at this competition, so it was kinda cool returning as a senior lady. I had a bit of a rough time because I had a severe case of bronchitis and getting through a "Senior" length program is just a little tougher than a “No Test" program. Anyway I was thrilled to win and I had a really good time skating in the Will Sears Memorial Show on Sunday afternoon. My mom and I were even able to shop a little on Canal Street. I love New York City and one day I might like to live there for awhile. Well, I guess that's all for now. I plan to rev it up a gear in preparation for next week's Regionals, and then continue to train hard for Trophee Eric Bompard in Paris!!!! I can not express in words on how excited I am to have been chosen for this Senior Grand Prix. Christine
