Brynn Carman was born November 26, 1994, in Denver, Colo.

She first began skating when she took the United States Figure Skating Association's Learn to Skate classes in fall 1999. She won her first Snow Plow Sam competition at the Fort Collins Classic in July 2000.

When she was 9-years-old, Brynn moved her primary training to coach Dalilah Sappenfield at the World Arena in Colorado Springs, Colo., to improve her singles skating until the timing was right for her to venture into pair skating.

Though Sappenfield is best known for coaching successful American pair teams, she agreed to take Brynn on as a single skater because she thought Brynn had the right body to be a pair skater.

Her first year under Sappenfield culminated with a fourth place finish, out of 115 girls, in the final round of pre-juvenile at the Southwestern Regional competition.

When Brynn was 11 years old, she started pair skating with partner Christopher Knierim, who previously skated with Shawnee Smith.

She now represents the Broadmoor Figure Skating Club of Colorado Springs in both pairs and freestyle skating.

Her favorite part about skating are the "pairs twists, throws and lifts" she is able to do with Chris.

The highlight of her skating career was placing in novice pairs at the 2007 U.S. Championships in Spokane, Wash.

At the event, Brynn and Chris were eighth in the short program but finished fourth in the free skate. They claimed the pewter medal in their first national championship.

Some of Brynn's recent accomplishments in freestyle are winning the intermediate ladies jumps competition at the 2007 Denver Invitational with two double Axels. Brynn also won the juvenile free skate.

She hopes to continue improving in singles while competing in pairs.

Her advice to young skaters who wish to compete at the national level is "Work hard, have fun and never give up."

Brynn currently trains with at the World Arena in Colorado Springs under several pairs coaches including Sappenfield and Leiina McLaughlin.

Sappenfield is also her primary singles coach. Her secondary coaches are Christy Krall and Eddie Shipstad for jumps and Becky Calvin for spins, field moves, edges and footwork.

She also trains everyday before school at the South Suburban Ice Arena in her hometown of Centennial, a southeastern suburb of Denver.

Her programs are choreographed by Sappenfield and Damon Allen, the 1991 U.S. Champion in junior men's skating. He has also competed internationally for the United States in the World Junior Championships and events on the Grand Prix circuit.

She wears Jackson competitor boots with Pattern 99 blades.

When Brynn is not skating, she likes shopping for her favorite brands. Her other hobbies include watching movies, text messaging and hanging out with her friends.

Her off-ice goal is to become a doctor.
