Hi Bebe, First of all, I'd like to start out by saying that your FS at Nationals was gorgeous = ) I've heard that you are an accomplished pianist. How has that helped your skating? (from Julie)

-- Thank you! I really love that program. Working with Lori was awesome. Playing piano has definitely helped develop my musicality. I can hear certain things in music or understand it a bit more because I'm trained to, and I was also opened up to a lot of beautiful pieces of music that I could potentially skate to.

I was wondering why do you have a fish on your skate? I have only just noticed it in your pictures! (from Amy)

-- If you look really closely there's also a cross on it too! The fish is a Christian symbol (the "Jesus fish") and it represents a major part of my life. So I like having it there as a symbol of my faith.

Hi Bebe, I was just wondering how many years of skating it took you to get up to the Novice 2 badge.  It has taken me only 2 years but I guess I learn fast because I started figure skating when I was 12 and now I'm 14.  If you could answer this, that would be great! Thanks! (from Hannah)

-- Hi Hannah, The novice 2 badge? I'm not sure exactly what you mean, but I was in the novice level when I was ten so that would be four years since I started skating.

How old are you and what is your favorite competition you've competed in before? (from Lynn)

-- I'm 20, and my favorite competition so far was the World Championships. It was an amazing feeling to be there and do well, because I had been working toward it for so long. But I would also have to say that Nationals would be my favorite competition of every year.

What do you feel is the one thing you struggle with the most in skating? Not only elements but in general. (from Nathaly)

-- I would have to say I do struggle with consistency. You have to learn how to make the same thing happen every time in practice and in competition so you are confident with what is going to happen. I am constantly trying to improve that aspect of my skating.

What's your favorite skating programs from other skaters and yours? Thanks And GO BEBE! (from Mei)

-- My favorite program of all time would be Michelle Kwan's Salome program at the 1996 worlds. It was textbook perfect and the program was beautiful. My favorite from my own programs would probably be my Harry Potter Short program of 2005.

Hi I was wondering what was your experience at worlds like? (from Dina)

-- It was awesome! I was so excited to be there that I was completely relaxed and enjoyed every moment of it. I felt confident and grateful that I had this great opportunity. Having my whole family there made it even better! :)

You've always had the best music selections in figure skating. :) How do you pick such great music? :) (from KJ)

-- Thank you! Picking music that I love is very important to me because I want to be able to really get into it while I'm doing my programs, so I make sure that any music I choose to skate to is one that will continue to motivate me even at the end of the season. When the time for choosing new music comes around, I always think back to pieces that I have heard that I remember saying I loved. If I can't think of anything I always go to my coaches or family and ask if they have any ideas. My family is very musical and they listen to very diverse things so I can always count on getting a few really good suggestions. It could be a long process, but it pays off when you finally find that one piece that gives you chills. :)

Bebe how do you deal with all the moving up and down in competition? Sometimes you're at the top and then other times you're not exactly where you want to be. Thanks! (from Naty)

-- It's always tough when I don't skate the way I intended, but every time I go out and compete, I learn something. And that's what you have to do. You take the good things with you, and find the positive in the negative and learn from it. Dwelling on what went wrong will only make me worry and doubt myself. As long as I still love to do what I do, I'm going to continue towards my goals, and appreciate every minute of it.
