hi Bebe my question is....who is your favorite competitor or skater? (from Karla)

-- I have so many favorites! Of course, I have always admired Michelle Kwan. She can’t help but be an inspiration to every skater!  I also love Kurt Browning, Kristi Yamaguchi, Ilia Kulik, and Todd Eldredge.  Recently, I’ve been loving Daisuke Takahashi. He has amazing presence and talent on the ice.

HI. I saw you in the Ice Diaries. I was wondering how much ice time you actually have and how much off ice time you have all together. I only have one lesson each week and 2-3 practices. And also how do you get to meet so many fabulous coaches? I hope you do well in your skating career. (from Amanda)

-- I’m lucky that I train at a facility that provides a lot of ice time. I usually skate 2-3 sessions a day, and I work with my coaches Ken Congemi and Frank Carroll almost every day.  Frank and Ken have great reputations, and I feel very fortunate to be able to work with them. They are amazing!  I get to meet many great coaches at all the competitions I go to.

Bebe your hair is so pretty what shampoo would you recommend? (from Emily)

-- Thank you!! I don’t think I’ve ever been asked that before! J I usually use Pantene Pro-V, because it does make my hair feel really silky, haha!

I ice skate and I am Chinese to, in fact, my last name is Leung! What inspired you to become a professional ice skater? Once you stop going professional in ice skating, what is the career you are planning? (from Megan)

-- Hey, maybe we’re related somehow! Well, to tell you the truth, skating wasn’t my idea from the beginning. My older sister, Natalie, wanted to skate and I was just the tag-along. But once I actually figured out what I was doing, I loved it. It was something I was good at, and I really loved working hard at it. I think when you start off doing something really young, you have to grow into your goals. I certainly didn’t know what my goals were until I was slightly older and could understand the effort and sacrifice I would need to put into it. As for after skating, I’m not sure exactly what I want to pursue.  I definitely want to finish school and graduate from college. There are so many exciting things out there that I want to explore!

Bebe - I've been following your skating for about as long as you've been competing on the senior level, I'm also a skater and I'm curious -- is there a particular brand of boot you prefer or find easiest to skate in? (from Jen)

-- Jen, every skater is different, and I know of several different brands of boots that work great for other people. I personally have used Harlicks almost my whole life, and I love them. I have tried others but I’ve always come back to them.  You should explore different options before deciding which ones work the best for you. Make sure you feel really comfortable in them.

What is the address we can send fan mail to you at? Should we send self-addressed and stamped envelopes already inside the letter? Can we request an autographed photo? (from Emily)

-- The best way to get fan mail to me would be to either send it to:

U.S. Figure Skating Headquarters
20 First Street
Colorado Springs, CO 80906

Or

All Year FSC
Culver Ice Arena
4545 Sepulveda Blvd.
Culver City, CA 90230

A stamped, self-addressed envelope would be great. I am currently in the process of trying to get some nice action photos copied so I can send them out to fans, but so far I’ve been a little lagging (my apologies!) If you have a picture you would like me to sign for you, I’d be more than happy to. Otherwise, I will try my best to send you one of my own.

If you see a famous skater at like a hotel is it okay to ask for an autograph or a picture? Or will they get annoyed? (from Emily)

-- I can’t speak for everyone else, but I wouldn’t be annoyed at all. I am always honored and flattered that someone would want a picture or an autograph of me. J And everyone I know is extremely nice about that, too. So go ahead and ask! It couldn’t hurt.

Hey Bebe, I love watching you skate. My most important question is do you believe that one can start skating as a teenager and actually fulfill goals like winning competitions? Thanks! (from Naty)

-- I believe that anything can be done with enough perseverance and courage! People may say that it is more difficult, but anything is possible! Just keep working hard and believe in yourself!

Can I recommend a song for your long and short program? I have great songs that I would love for you to skate in the next season after the season that's starting soon. (from Lina)

-- Of course! I would love to hear any suggestions you have. I’m always open for new ideas and input from anyone.
