Hey Bebe, I think you and your skating is awesome. How did you come up your new program music yellow river? (From Gene) --Coming up with new programs can be tough, but this year it was really easy working with my choreographer Lori Nichol to come up with music. We just sat there listening to a lot of different pieces of music (music that I was interested in skating to, and also music she thought would be good for me to skate to) until we came upon the Yellow River Concerto and instantly loved it. Hey Bebe, who are some of your favorite skaters? (From Jasmin) --Some of my favorite skaters include Michelle Kwan, Ilia Kulik, Kurt Browning, and Kristi Yamaguchi Bebe, I love your skating :D. What do you do with your costumes after you've used them for the competitive season? (From Laura) --Most of my old outfits are sitting in my closet gathering dust, but sometimes I use them for shows or exhibitions. You're an awesome skater. I really enjoy watching you. What is your favorite jump and what jump do you hate doing the most or is your weakest? (From Tasha) --My favorite jump would probably have to be my double axel or triple loop. The jump that I used to have most problems with was my triple salchow, but now it is almost as fun as all my other jumps :) Are you planning a triple/triple this season? What was it like working with Lori Nichol? (From Dede) --I have been working on a triple/triple and I plan to include it in my programs this season. I loved working with Lori. She is an amazing choreographer, and we had a lot of fun working together on my long program. I am having trouble on getting speed in my spins and maintaining it without traveling. And I was wondering how you get such speed and style through out your spins with many changes of position, and if there is any off ice or on ice technique to perfect it? (From Kate) --With the new judging system, spins are getting more difficult. For me, spins became easier with a lot of practice. Try to come up with cool positions that aren't too hard for you and perfect them before trying something more difficult. Then you can build from there. After Ice Diaries ended I was sad because that was fun to watch. Do you plan on doing another kind of show like that before the 2010 games? (From Emma) --Filming Ice Diaries was so much fun, and I'm glad you enjoyed it as much as I did! I don't know if I will be doing anything like that again in the near future, but if the opportunity comes up again I would love to do it. I have a question for you about skating with braces. I had my braces put on a few weeks ago and have found that I occasionally have problems breathing during my program because my lips do not move over my braces well, keeping my mouth too open to get much air. Have you ever had this problem? If so, did you find anything that helped? (From Jennifer) --Yes, braces can be a pain!! I don't remember having too many problems with them, but I think once you get used to them more, you'll be able to breathe easier. Sorry, I'm not much help. How many hours a day do you train? How many days a week etc...please describe your schedule. (From Jackie) --I train on the ice between 2-3 hours a day 5 days a week, and I skate an hour or so on the weekends too. I also train off the ice with a personal trainer or at the gym everyday. Are you friends with the people you compete against, like Emily Hughes or Kimmie, or is it hard to be friends with them since you need to focus on the competition? (From Dary) --Skating is an individual sport so you do have to be very focused on what you are doing. Competing against the other girls shouldn't make you enemies with them. I believe in "friendly competition" so I try to be friendly towards all of my competitors. It makes competitions so much more fun when you can enjoy everyone's company. |
