I really love the skating dresses that you wear, they always seem to fit your program perfectly and you look stunning! Do you play a part in designing them? (From Amber) --Thank you! I love all of my outfits. I always take part in designing my outfits. It's a collaboration between me, my coaches, and the dressmaker. I think it's important to really love your outfits because you want to feel awesome when you're out on the ice competing. I am a huge fan of you AND Vienna Teng so I was thrilled with your exhibition skate at Nationals. How were you introduced to Vienna's music? (From Leon) --My older sister is the one who introduced me to Vienna Teng. She played me a few of her songs, and the one I used for my exhibition was one that I particularly loved. My sister knows a lot of cool music so a lot of times I will go to her for ideas. What inspires your music choices for your programs? You always have the most interesting music and choreography! (From Foz) --Choosing music is an interesting process. Sometimes I have my own ideas of what I want to skate to, other times my coaches or my choreographer will have a few ideas. Sometimes it takes a long time just sitting there listening to music until we find the perfect piece that we all love. It takes time, but once you find that piece, you can always enjoy your programs. What do you do to prepare for a competition - physically and mentally? Also, do you do any cross training or diets to help your skating? (From Amber) --Before competition, I make sure that I eat properly and that I am fully rested so that I know I'll have enough energy to do my best. Right before I go out to skate, I warm up and stretch and walk through my jumps and my program. Mentally, I try to stay focused and visualize myself doing a perfect program. It's important to have confidence when you're out on the ice. Also, make sure to have fun while you compete!! :) When I'm training at home, I go to the gym regularly to train my stamina and do some strength training. Eating healthy and at the right times helps to keep my energy up so I can train hard every day. hey bebe ur awesome i love ur skating. I really liked ur caravan costume u wore at nationals this year. How did u come up with it and why did u decide to change costumes? (From Jasmin) --The costume change was decided for nationals because we thought that it could be more dynamic and stand out more. I loved both outfits, actually. The person who made my dress came up with the design, and we loved it from the start. Are you planning for 2010 Olympic games? Are you friends with the other skaters? Do you plan to go to Skate America? (From Emily) --Yes, I am definitely aiming for the 2010 Olympics. It is my biggest goal in skating. I do have a lot of friends in skating, especially at my rink. It's important to enjoy what you are doing, so making friends is a big deal. It's always fun to meet new people at competitions and some can turn into lifelong friendships. I am not going to Skate America this year since I was assigned to Cup of China and Cup of Russia. Oh so many questions I have. When will be your next performance and where? How long have you been into skating? Don't you just want to skate all the time? (From Victoria) --My first big competition is Cup of China in November. I have been skating since I was six, so it's been over 13 years! |
