Hey everyone! Sorry I haven't
written in a while, once again I have been insanely busy! Where
should I even start? I recently changed coaches to Priscilla
Hill, and both of us are having a great time.
In May, Phillip Mills came
out and choreographed my new short program to the theme music
from the movie “Somewhere in Time”. This piece is completely
different than other programs I have skated to before. Phillip
brought out my strengths, but also pushed me to new heights and
areas of expression. He is such a great guy to work with, and I
really enjoyed putting my program together with him.
Priscilla and I are focusing
mostly on perfecting my new programs, but we are also trying to
mature my skating as well. It's like skating boot camp, we're
both working so hard! Priscilla is such a technician, so yes,
EVERYTHING that has to do with jumps is being looked at. Other
than that, everything has been well. I'm up in Delaware part
time now, with my mom and my brother, but during the school year
I'll only get to see them on the weekends. I'm also happy to say
that I'll be going to both Beijing and Tokyo this year for my
Grand Prix assignments. I am so excited!
My Dad just returned from the
Sichuan Province of China. He had traveled to the epicenter of
the tragic earthquake that took place on May 12, 2008. My Dad
was working with Operation USA and the Honeywell Corporation to
locate a spot to rebuild a new school. I am very proud of the
work that he is doing to help support the families affected by
the natural disaster. Education has always been something that
means a lot to my family. It was incredible to see the photos
of the children sitting in their school chairs taken from the
rubble along with the salvaged books. Even though they have been
through rough times you could still see their innocence and
happiness with what they had. I would like to help support the
goals of Operation USA.
Well, I hope to check back in
soon, but keep your fingers crossed and wish me luck!
