Beatrisa "Bebe" Liang is determined. Competing for the eighth time as a senior, she is hoping to finally make the World team. Liang finished fourth last year, her highest to date but just missed the opportunity to compete at the World Championships. Liang's season so far has been a series of ups and downs. In October, she helped the American women win the International Counter Match competition in Japan where she recorded the highest long program score of all the ladies competitiors. She could only manage sixth and eighth place finishes at her Grand Prix competitions in China and Russia. Hoping to up the ante on her technical elements, Liang has been practicing triple-triple combinations and hopes to include them in her programs. Another big change this season has been working with choreographer, Lori Nichol, on her free skate to Yellow River Piano Concerto. "She is an amazing choreographer, and we had a lot of fun working together," Liang said. She has also been working on her stamina by training her long program more than in previous seasons. When she's not skating, Liang teaches piano lessons part time and volunteers as a Sunday school teacher at her church. She also enjoys reading, dancing, and listening to hip-hop and Asian pop on her iPod. For more information on Liang, visit figureskatersonline.com/beatrisaliang/. |
