It appears that U.S. senior pairs skaters Chloé Katz and Joseph Lynch were destined to skate together. Both started skating when they were five years old, both trained under the same coach as singles skaters, and most of all, both are lefties. They officially became partners in the 2000-2001 season. This past season has been a busy one for Katz and Lynch—they split their training between Bellmore, N.Y., where they continue to train with Adam Leib, and Canton, Mich., where they have been working with Johnny Johns and Marina Zoueva, the coach and choreographer for 2007 U.S. Champions, Brooke Castile and Ben Okolski. Both Katz and Lynch are happy to be back on the ice after suffering injuries—Lynch has fully recovered from a back injury last season, while Katz has bounced back from a knee injury she suffered in September. They won the silver at the Eastern Sectional Championships to qualify for nationals. After finishing tenth at nationals two years running, Katz and Lynch are ready for this year's challenge in St. Paul and have their sights set on the podium. "Chloé and I are extremely motivated this year and we are working really hard," Lynch recently said. Off the ice, Katz loves cooking swordfish, reading and swimming, while Lynch enjoys playing tennis, roller blading, and listening to music. Both excelled in academics in high school and currently balance their time between their training and majoring in sports management at New York University.
