Chelsi Guillen and Danny Curzon
Chelsi Guillen and Danny Curzon have not been partners for long. But what the team has achieved since forming their partnership in April 2006, a month before Guillen passed the first of five junior pair skating tests, proves that time is not an issue for the pair. Guillen and Curzon finished second at the 2006 Pacific Coast Sectionals to earn a spot at the 2007 U.S. Championships. "I am very proud for it being my first time (at nationals)," Guillen told the Arizona Daily Star after finishing eighth. The pair made their international debut with a third place short program at Junior Grand Prix Estonia. After placing ninth overall in Tallinn, with a point total that would have put them fifth in Lake Placid, Guillen and Curzon placed 10th in Great Britain. "It was an awesome experience to compete against the best junior teams in the world, and we are ready to take the next step into that top tier of skating," the team said in an October journal. "It was a brand new experience for both of us to compete internationally and we definitely learned a lot while in Europe." In St. Paul, the 2007 Pacific Coast Sectional Junior Pairs Champions have two goals. "We can't wait to go compete for the top spot and a trip to Sofia, Bulgaria," for the World Junior Championships, they said. A freshman at Desert Mountain High School, Guillen enjoys four wheeling, knee boarding, playing volleyball, listening to music and texting. She is also very close to her brothers, sister and sister-in-law, and enjoys spending time with them. He is studying English Literature at Arizona State University. "I work at iMemories, which is a Scottsdale-based company that converts film, video, photos, and slides to digital forms on CDs or DVDs," said Curzon, who enjoys golfing, sailing, reading and music.
