Bianca Butler and Joseph Jacobsen
Bianca Butler and Joseph Jacobsen know all about teamwork. They have been skating together since 1999, a longevity that is relatively unheard of for American pairs teams today. In St. Paul, they will be making their senior debut at U.S. Championships. Last season, they won the silver medal on the junior level and in 2005, they placed second as novices. After an injury in the warm-up forced them to withdraw from their sole Junior Grand Prix event in the fall of 2006, they rebounded by qualifying for the Junior Grand Prix Final this season, where they placed seventh out of nine teams. They made the final by by placing fourth and fifth at their Junior Grand Prix events in Lake Placid and Germany. In their last season of junior international eligibility, Butler and Jacobsen are hoping to make the World Junior Championship team for the first time. "The last day of nationals they announce the World and Junior World teams. It's fun to find out who is going," Butler said to Figure Skaters Online about her favorite things about the national championships. Off the ice, Butler is a student at Laurel Springs School and would like to attend fashion school to become a clothing designer. She enjoys going to the beach, shopping, gardening and being with her younger brother, Braden, who is one year old. Jacobsen is a marketing student at Orange Coast Community College. His hobbies include surfing, sailing, spear fishing, and playing guitar in his band, which is called I Don’t Want To Stick My Finger In There. Both skaters support the charity RED ONE.
