'No better feeling' than national ice for Ashley Wagner

Ashley Wagner of Alexandria, Va., has already competed as a senior internationally bu she is making her senior national debut at the 2007 U.S. Championships

As one of only three American ladies to win a medal on the Grand Prix series this season, Trophee Eric Bompard bronze medalist Ashley Wagner is a favorite to claim a spot on the World Championship team.

She loves the challenge of competing against America's top skaters. And that's not the only thing on her list of the "the top eight reasons why I can't wait to compete at the 2008 U.S. Championships." She recently sat down with Figure Skaters Online to talk about what she is looking forward.

1. National ice. I love to skate on national ice. There is no better feeling!

2. Excitement. I get so excited to skate my programs. Skating gives me such a thrill. This year I love my music and the choreography that goes with each program.

3. Competition. I enjoy skating against America's top athletes. I am a competitor and I love the challenge of skating with the best.

4. Family. I like to make my family proud. When I skate at nationals, I know my entire family is cheering me on.

5. Friends. I get to see my friends. During Nationals I am able to go and support my friends. Skaters have very busy lives and I enjoy getting caught up with my pals.

6. Fans. My fans are the best. I enjoy meeting my enthusiastic supporters. It is fun to talk to people before and after practices.

7. St. Paul. Traveling to new places is tops on my list of fun activities. My Dad has been to St. Paul and tells me it a very beautiful city.

8. Shopping. Who decided to hold nationals near the largest mall in America? I want to thank them personally.
